At KampusLink, your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have — in plain language, not legal jargon.

1. Data We Collect

When you use KampusLink, we may collect the following:

• Account information — email address, display name, username
• Profile information — university, department, year of study, profile photo
• Content you create — posts, stories, comments, marketplace listings, messages
• Device information — device type, operating system, push notification token
• Usage data — how you interact with the app, features you use

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide and operate the KampusLink platform
• Connect you with other students at your university
• Send you notifications about activity on your account
• Improve the app and fix issues
• Keep the platform safe and prevent abuse

3. Data Storage & Infrastructure

Your data is stored securely using Supabase for database and authentication, and Cloudflare R2 for media files (photos, videos). Data may be processed in multiple regions as part of these services.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share data only in these cases:

• When required by law or a valid legal process
• To protect the safety of our users or the public
• With infrastructure providers (Supabase, Cloudflare) strictly to operate the service

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of incorrect data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Posts and stories have built-in expiry periods. When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Children & Age

KampusLink is intended for university students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections, secure authentication, and access controls. No system is completely immune to breaches, but we take every reasonable step to protect your data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of KampusLink after changes means you accept the updated policy.
